The girls started the year off with some drama, working on co-ordination and team-building, skills which we will be using a lot of throughout 6th class.
The girls have been working very hard on procedural writing over the last few weeks, writing recipes and instructions. At the end of our writing genre, we followed recipes to make rice krispie buns. Although the chocolate was overcooked slightly in the microwave, they turned out very tasty!!
Garda Shane, on behalf of Clane Garda Station, invited Scoil Bhríde to the centenary of An Garda Síochána.
We were very lucky to see some vintage Garda cars, learn some history about the station in Clane and the highlight was the Garda dogs and horses!
A colouring competition was run following this. Emily Furs won this presenting a beautiful crest. Well done Emily 🙂
Thank you for the invite Garda Shane.
What a blast we had on Halloween dress up day! The girls in 6th class got to team up with Junior Infants for our witch walk around the school. The thought and effort that went into the costumes was incredible. Well done everyone!
Take a look at some of the costumes here and you can also see our spooky artwork in some of the photos!
6th class were delighted to have Mary from Clane Rugby club for a few weeks to do Tag Rugby. The girls really got involved and showed brilliant enthusiasm and determination. We had a final blitz before Christmas with the three 6th classes in the hall, a great display of what they had learned. Some future stars in the making!
Some children in the class suggested sending Christmas cards to Hazel Hall this year. This was a beautiful gesture and the girls made some lovely cards which were passed to the residents to spread some Christmas cheer!
The 6th classes headed off for the day to the SAP offices in Dublin to learn some more about what they do.
During the day, they engaged in lots of activities and team building exercises. They even got the opportunity to use a green screen and pretend they were in a TV News Room! We were so delighted to be invited over for the day 🙂
We were lucky to have Mandy Connolly from Izubee, Clane in to visit us before Confirmations. Mandy helped the children create their very own scrabble art frames with their first name and confirmation name. These are a beautiful keepsake for the girls to have of their final year in primary school.
Chuir na páistí seó faiseanta ar siúl sa halla agus bhí an-taitneamh againn go léir.
Bhí na páistí ag foghlaim foclóir agus frásaí bunaithe ar éadaí agus rudaí faiseanta agus d'úsáid siad na foclóir sin chun a feisteas a cur síos.
Féach ar na feisteas a bhí acu!!
The children enjoyed a range of activities during Wellbeing Week this year.
On Monday, the 6th class wore their Confirmation outfits into school and they showed off their beautiful outfits to all the classes.
On Tuesday, we all went outside and created some chalk art on the yard and created beautiful butterflies for a whole school display at the front of the school.
On Wednesday, the 6th class had a pizza party to celebrate their Confirmation and as a nice treat on Wellbeing Week.
On Thursday, the Student Council put a great amount of work into organising the annual bake sale. Thank you all for your donations.
On Friday, the children had a whole school assembly in the hall, where they heard from the Student Council and sang their Wellbeing Song.
A great week was had by all!
One Friday recently, the girls had a choice of activities for PE and one of the activities they chose was the parachute. They had so much fun playing games with it.
This year for Bike Week, the 6th class went on a 8.5km cycle around Clane with a Garda escort. They had such a fantastic time and even got to hop on the Garda motorbike afterwards! (More importantly, Garda Shane gave them no homework for the night!!)
