We looked at the different phases of the moon. We worked in groups with Oreo biscuits to show the phases that exist....None of the oreo biscuits exist any more!!

In Music, we made our own musical instruments!! Look at the instruments we made. They all sound great!
We talked about words we associate with Grannies. Sometimes Grannies can surprise us...like the Granny in the David Walliams book "Gangsta Granny" We also watched a video clip of a Granny on Britain's Got Talent...who turned out to be an amazing drummer!! Please ask us to recite one of our favourite poems from Fourth class so far..."Gran Can You Rap?"
Look who is our Class Captain for this year! She already has a suggestion box made in class. She will be taking all of our wonderful ideas to the Student Council.
We talked about resilient people. We looked at the video of Malala. It is called Malala and the Magic Pencil.

We have been learning about the provinces of Ireland. We had to design a brochure filled with information on a county. We set up a tourist office and read each other's brochures. Then we had a class vote to find out which county we would like to visit most!! Offaly was the winner! Where would you like to visit?
We were set an exciting challenge for our Art Project....We had to transform a pumpkin so that it looks like something else! Look at these fabulous creations!!!

A huge thank you to Ms. Harney for organising our Nature Walk with Patrick Hunt. We had a beautiful day for it and we learned so much from him!
We even did a worm dance to trick the worms into thinking it's raining...then they made their way to the top of the soil. This is exactly what the birds do!

We held our very own Late Late Toy Show in Room 20 on Friday! We had to review a favourite game, outdoor game, toy or book. We presented it to the audience and demonstrated how it works. We had a lot of fun!! During the intervals we had so many talented acts perform. Members of our school choir, singers and jugglers, dancers, strictly ballroom dancers , to name but a few, all performed on the day,

Look at our amazing projects on China. We had been learning about Chinese New Year. We had to do our own research for our projects and present them to the class. Some of us used powerpoint, books and posters to display our information.
We looked at some of the work by Gustav Klimt. We tried to work out the story behind this beautiful picture. We looked at the patterns Klimt uses in his works of art. We created our own masterpieces inspired by Klimt. Aren't they impressive?
Mick Waters from Microsoft came in to us for an hour of Coding. We were set a challenge to make our own Whack a Mole Game! Thank you to Mick Waters!

Look at our amazing World Book Day Art. We had to turn a plain wooden spoon into a character from a famous book! Look at these....
We had a wonderful treat this afternoon. We watched a screening of the short film "Mildly Different" in the hall. It is about an autistic girl Christina and it follows her life from childhood to adulthood.This was followed by a Questions and Answers session with the director Anna Czarska. Such a special afternoon. Thank you Anna.
What a way to celebrate International Women's Day. We had our first session of Tag Rugby with Mary who plays for Ireland in Women's Rugby! We are looking forward to next week already!

We have just finished our class novel, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. As we read through the story..we entered the wardrobe that led to the magical land of Narnia. We created Dioramas of our favourite scenes from this wonderful novel. Prepare to be amazed....
This morning, we went out on yard and used chalk to write positive messages for all to see!
As part of Wellbeing Week we got busy in the kitchen!! We made these delicious treats. We had a school bake sale. The money raised will go to our school and Irish Cancer Society.
We have been working on another class novel. This time it was Under the Hawthorn Tree. We answered questions, wrote diary entries and wrote sensory poems about the workhouse. We also created these wonderful famine cottages from clay.
To celebrate Bike Safety Week, we cycled to the GAA and worked on bike drills set up by Garda Shane! We had a great day!
We have been learning about healthy eating. We talked about the Food Pyramid and designed a Healthy Lunch making sure to include, fruit and vegetables, protein, carbohydrate and dairy.
We also looked and responded to the paintings of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He created portraits using fruit and vegetables and sometimes even flowers!

This week we went on our school tour to a Let's Go Camp in Kilcullen.
