Welcome to Ms. Shine's 4th class! We are looking forward to a happy and fun year ahead!
We have had a busy September settling back into school and getting to know each other. The girls painted self-portraits and interviewed each other "as Gaeilge."
We chatted about how we are all unique and then proved this by creating our own thumb print pictures!
Inspired by the work of Evie Hone, the girls created beautiful stained glass pictures of their own which are on display in the windows of our classroom 🙂
We learned all about endangered animals around the world and each girl researched an endangered animal of their choice. Following this, they designed beautiful posters promoting the great work of the ISPCA. Check them out!
And finally, we were very lucky to have the opportunity to view the amazing book "In the Ould Ago" which was researched and written by a famous Grandad of a girl in our class!
Thank you so much for donating a copy of this book to the school library 🙂
We have had a lovely mild autumn so far and so took the opportunity to visit the beautiful Fairy Garden
We also visited the Outdoor garden on the school grounds! The girls are really looking forward to learning about the great outdoors and experiencing some lessons in the outdoor class!
The girls designed and decorated fantastic pumpkins at home. What a creative bunch they are! WOW!
On the day of the holidays, everyone dressed up in costume. They looked brilliant!
We had a very busy Maths week! We did a Maths Trail on the school grounds:
We played Maths games on Manga High at home, did problem solving at school and had fun Maths stations in our pods:
We finished off the week with some Maths Art:
but there could only be one winner! The winning entry was the Maths Fortune Teller but all the girls did a fantastic job!
We had a lot of fun in Science week: An online session with Maynooth University about "The Wonderful World of Soapy Surfaces."
Afterwards the girls explored the world of bubbles and tried out various experiments themselves!
We discovered how to create static electricity with balloons and had fun with the results 🙂
We learned all about the Respiratory System and the girls constructed 3D models of the lungs. A great job!
We have had lots of fun in the lead up to Christmas.
We did an online Monster Quiz with author Sarah Webb
Had our Christmas jumper day....
Had great excitement with Secret Santa...
The girls thought about what the real Mrs. Claus is really like...
and of course we did lots of Christmas Art including the Nativity painting, chalk pastel snowmen
cute gingerbread men and women!
and clay Christmas decorations.
We were very lucky to have Paddy Madden come into the school and teach the girls all about planting in our outdoor classroom. The girls planted wild garlic and we are all really looking forward to seeing and tasting the results!
