The girls have been creating wonderful pieces of art. From learning about the primary, secondary, tertiary and corresponding colours, to responding to the poem
'The Lake Isle of Inisfree' in watercolours and Georgia O' Keeffe's close-up flowers in chalk pastels, they have been busy!
We have been sending in answers to the 'Question of the Week' on News2Day and last week our answer was chosen to be read out on television!
The question asked:
Have you had homework this month, and what do you think about homework?
Here's our answer:
The girls got into the Christmas spirit wearing their fabulous Christmas jumpers! We were treated to a wonderful piano performance of Jingle Bells from Zara, accompanied by Aibhe and Keelyn singing beautifully. Well done girls!
The girls gifted each other beautiful presents for Secret Santa. They put a lot of thought into their gifts. It was a lovely treat to receive a present from their classmates!
The girls have worked so hard online over the last few months. They have been engaging with school work, video check-ins and interactive activities, so to celebrate their super work, we enjoyed a class cook-along for our last Teams call. Here are some of the amazing treats the girls baked. They tasted as good as they look!
The girls painted wonderful Easter Bunnies.
The girls made fabulous Easter egg-cups out of Clay. They sculpted and painted their artwork, then glazed it, giving a wonderful shine.
The girls were busy planting lots of vegetables. After learning about the conditions a plant needs to grow, they took care of their plants as they germinated and sprouted. We have a lovely selection of peas, carrots, lettuces, spinach, beetroot and raddish.
During the month of April the girls have created wonderful pieces of artwork. They mixed colours to create shaded mosaic vases and then printed patterns using different materials to create honeycomb.
The last week of April was Active Week in school. We enjoyed a Run Around Ireland Challenge where we ran or walked laps of the school on a wonderful new pathway. We took part in a fabulous yoga session with Ms. Johnston and a fun dance session with Elaine. We finished up the week with a game of rounders outside and a dance on the yard at breaktime. A great week was had by all!
The girls have been learning all about space with Mr. Begley. From debating, to creating wonderful pieces of art, to investigating how far aeroplanes made of different materials will travel, they have been very busy!
It was a sunny and warm afternoon, so the girls brought their art outside to complete. They drew backgrounds to mount their 3D construction of a butterfly.
The girls created a wonderful display for the Student Council Wellbeing Display. The theme we chose was 'Growth Mindset'.
Growth mindset is about approaching things with a positive outlook, learning from others, any mistakes we may make and constantly improving.
It is the opposite to fixed mindset. This is where we give up easily, keep making the same mistakes and think we can never be as good as anybody else. It is a negative outlook.
Over the past few weeks, the girls have really been trying to put what they have learned into practise. They are using more positive language to describe their work and persisting even when things get tough. Well done girls!
