Over the last three days we had Paul Byrne from mobile music school in to do ‘Let’s drum workshops’ with all the classes in our school. This was funded from a donation we received from Blackhall stud and supplemented from funding raised from the PA sponsored walk last year. Every child in our school participated and really enjoyed the workshops.
Let’s Drum is a hands-on, interactive drumming workshop that introduces children to an array of percussion instruments from around the world. These workshops delve into rhythms and patterns commonly found in African, samba drumming, and modern music. Each child had the chance to play a range of different instruments, with every workshop culminating in an end-of-workshop performance of the material covered.
This workshop:
- Provided the children with the opportunity to learn about and perform on various drums and percussion instruments.
- Taught the children about the significance of rhythm.
- Enabled the children to learn and perform a variety of rhythms suitable for their class group, culminating in a group performance.
