Autumn is my favourite season. I brought the children on a lovely Autumn walk around the school. They found all sorts such as red, orange, yellow and brown leaves, acorns, chestnuts, etc. They were very disappointed they didn't see any squirrels. They also created beautiful Autumn leaves in Art using tissue paper.
Over the past two weeks, the children have been doing Aistear using the theme of Autumn and Halloween. They played Halloween bingo, they made scary Halloween things using play dough and play dough mats, they created spooky Halloween pictures out of 2D shapes and took part in small world play where they created an Autumn park using leaves, pumpkins, blocks and small world characters.
The children had a blast dressing up for Halloween. They really enjoyed singing 'Five Little Pumpkins' and had a ball on the witch walk. They also made dancing skeletons.
For maths week, the children created 2D shape monsters. They used all sorts of shapes such as squares, circles, rectangles, triangles, ovals, hearts, etc. Well done to Heidi O'Dowd who won the best shape monster in Senior Infants for maths week. Take a look at all our monsters below and the winning monster.
The children had lots of fun playing phonics and maths games on the ipads.
Don't we look fab in our Winter Woollies. We are also looking forward to the Toy show tonight.
We made different types of homes from around the world out of clay. We made all sorts such as igloos, tepees, houseboats, etc. Take a look below. We also designed our own homes using different materials and we made 3D bedrooms inspired by Van Gogh.
For the month of December, the children have been doing different active activities every day. Such activities include yoga, go noodle, sit ups, jumping jacks, zumba, squats, and lots more.
We made some lovely Christmas trees using chalk pastels and black paper. We also made 3D reindeer, snowmen and Santa. It was so much fun.
