Welcome to Senior Infants Rm. 5. The children really enjoyed creating their own special bags this week. They look amazing. They can now store their special items in these bags.
This week, the children learned all about friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We read the story 'Fox makes friends'. They drew lovely pictures of their own friends.
The children had so much fun making their sock puppets. Take a look at some of the lovely creations they came up with.
This week, we did some fun maths activities. The children formed numbers out of cubes, made shapes out of lollipop sticks, made sets of five using concrete materials and played fun matching number games.
This week, we were learning all about height. The girls really enjoyed measuring each other using pencils.
Autumn is my favourite season. I brought the children on a lovely Autumn walk around the school. They found all sorts such as red, orange, yellow and brown leaves, acorns, chestnuts, etc. They were very disappointed they didn't see any squirrels. They also created beautiful Autumn leaves in Art using tissue paper.
Over the past two weeks, the children have been doing Aistear using the theme of Autumn and Halloween. They played Halloween bingo, they made scary Halloween things using play dough and plat dough mats, they created spooky Halloween pictures out of 2D shapes and took part in small world play where they created an Autumn park using leaves, pumpkins, blocks and small world characters.
The children had a blast dressing up for Halloween. They really enjoyed singing 'Five Little Pumpkins' and had a ball on the witch walk. They also made dancing skeletons.
