Tom and Brendan came in to speak to the two Fourth Classes. They are from Birdwatch Ireland. We learned so many interesting facts about birds.

We had to pick a country and design a brochure for tourists visiting the area.
We have been learning the poem “The Moon” by Robert Louis Stephenson. We responded to the poem using oil pastels.
Well being means feeling good and strong in our minds and bodies, having energy, getting along with and helping others, knowing our strengths and feeling proud because we are doing our best.
We looked at our character strengths and designed posters to display.
We have a beautiful new library in our school. We love to go to the library and choose our new books.
We all had a wonderful time shopping at the Green School Bake Sale. A huge thanks to all our bakers and all shoppers too!
We have been learning about Ancient Greece. We made Ancient Greek Theatre Masks and chose an area of Ancient Greece that interested us and completed a project on it.
We looked at and responded to a work of art by Henri Matisse. It is based on the Greek legend of Icarus. It is entitled “The Fall Of Icarus”. We used Matisse’s cut out method to create our own works of art. We chose our own legends as themes for our art.
We all took part in Secret Santa in Room 11 ! Some of us found it very hard to keep it secret!
We enjoyed making snowmen from socks and making Christmas Cards.
We had a wonderful time preparing for our Christmas Concert. We worked on a play called “Rescuing The Fairytale”

Miss Finn is teaching us for the month of January. We have had a busy start to our year! We have been learning a lot of things, including long multiplication, lighthouses and headlands and the history of shopping! We will keep you posted!
Last week we said goodbye to our old caretaker Johnny Higgins. We wrote acrostic poems to celebrate his retirement.
We had a student teacher in our room during January.We were sad to see her go. Thank you Ms Finn!
We have been learning all about China and Chinese New Year. We have done lots of research and worked on our own Projects on China. We are taking turns to present them to the class.

We celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8th. We learned the motto for Women’s Day is “Balance Is Better”. We had to research a woman we find to be inspirational. These included Marie Curie, Rosa Parks, Princess Diana, Malala, Coco Chanel and many many more.
We celebrated Mothers’ Day with the inspirational women in our lives…Our Mums. We invited them into our room for a special celebration and as a way of thanking them for all they do for us.
