Ms Barrett – Room 13

After going to the library for World Book Day we decided to make really cool bookmarks. They will help us keep track of what page we are on.

First we had to follow the instructions very carefully to learn how to fold our paper bookmark properly. Next we decorated them. We all decorated them in different ways but most people gave the bookmark sharp teeth to make it look like it is eating the book!

Take a look at our origami bookmarks. They were super fun to make!

On the 2nd of March it was World Book Day. The girls in room 13 love to read so they came to school dressed as their favourite character from a book. Our classroom was full of wonderful characters including Fancy Nancy, Pippy Longstocking, Elsa, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Daisy the horse rider, cats, mice, kings and princesses!

In the afternoon we walked to the local library in Clane and we met Jackie the librarian. While we were there everybody chose a book to read. Before we left the library teacher read us a story. It was great fun!

January 2017

We are all very excited to be back in school after our Christmas break. We started learning the poem ‘Jack Frost’ by Gillian Harker. We love the poem so much that it inspired us to do wonderful winter art pictures. We used chalk to show how Jack Frost paints the world a sparkling white.

We read the beautiful story ‘The Paper Dolls’ by Julia Donaldson. It tells a story about a little girl who brings her paper dolls on an adventure. We loved reading the book so much that we made our own paper dolls. We had great fun cutting them out and decorating them. We also pretended to the the little girls brother from the story. He wasn’t very nice to his sister so he had to write a letter to say sorry.
